Is it ok to give my 6 week old puppy children's cough medicine for Kennel Cough?

My puppy has Kennel Cough, Canine Bordetellosis, and it's just going to have to run it's course, but it's making her very uncomfortable. To ease her coughing I am thinking of giving her some children's cough medicine. Is this ok?
