What is the best way to immobilize a cat in order to mouth feed him medicine...

...that apparently tastes horrible? I obviously love my cat, and therefore never even thought about having him declawed. Now he has a bowell problem and the vet has prescribed some medicine for him. The cat, of course, won't go near the medicine because it tastes terrible. Even if I put it inside other food, he knows. So now I am attempting to squirt it directly into his mouth. He doesn't like that either, as you can imagine. He squirms, he wiggles, he meows (does't hiss), and of course he claws in an attempt to get away (not to fight). I am only one man! What is the best way to immobilize a cat all by myself so that I don't keep coming out of this battle with significant war wounds? Please help!
