Medicine or something that controls anger? please help =D? Please don't be mean about this, like my mother. I have ADHD and i get mad ALOT I was wondering if they made anything like pills, to help control anger? My mother alwayz says that i'n just crazy and it's all mental i just have a hard timee believing that since they have all of these OTHER pills, and medicines that control more.."unusual" things please help? =] And when im angry, iguess i get really mean. and people don't want to be around me. Since i'm 13, it doesn't seem like there is much i CAN take. and, im already on concerta--for my AHDH medicine. And when im angry, i go on a RAMPAGE. i get viscious, mean, irritable, i love to punch and destroy things, i scream excessivly

There is seroquel, whcih I take to stabilize my mood. Its an anti psychotic but is used to help with mood disorders too. I find it helps level out my mood. I still get angry but not nearly as intense and its easier to calm down when I am. Just a thought.

As far as I know, they don't have 'specific' pills to control only anger; it's an emotion that may be seen in certain mental disorders, like ADHd or ODD (oppositional defiance disorder). Or even Bipolar disorder. So, that being said, meds can help, if you keep trying different ones for your ADHD. But, often anger requires mangement and technique. Learning to diffuse the anger via psycholocial therapy. It's hard, I know. But...I can tell you this. The fact that you RECOGNIZE that you have a need to help this area: you are already a huge way there to getting over it. People go their entire lives without admitting that they have anger problems. They go FOREVER until they die. Congratulate yourself for being smart enough to realize your shortcomings!

Yes, hon, they have pills that can help you control your emotions. BUT you need to go see your guidance counselor. They can diagnose you as ADHD and get you the help you need. They can even help you talk through your feelings and find non-medical ways of controlling your anger. It sucks that your mom isn't supportive, really. Just know that you can help heal yourself, OK? Good luck!

Anger management is addressed in section 4, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris If you can't deal with it by using one of the techniques, such as counting backwards from 20, to 1, (and prevent yourself from making yourself angry, in the first place) is important to express that anger appropriately, at the time, and to the person who caused it, if possible, or immediately afterwards, if not, maybe by walking away later, and bellowing your rage. In some situations, such as work, or school, it might be better to cover your mouth with a cupped hand, bandanna/handkerchief, or use the crook of your elbow, to muffle the sound. Some people find that it helps to journal those thoughts, and emotions soon afterwards. Anger, which is repressed, rather than healthily expressed, tends to fester, and later may cause explosive fits of rage, or depression. It helps to have someone you can talk to. For more physically inclined people, a punching bag, or punching your pillow can be an effective release mechanism. ~~~ From Y!A: "But next time, when you get mad, just remember this quote: 'Those who anger you, conquer you.' It's basically saying that when you give someone the power to make you mad, or let it get to you, it's like they're controlling you. When I realized that, it made me mad, so I try to control my anger and not let people see it. You can still control your anger without being walked all over. You just have to draw a line."
