my puppy has kennel cough. is there any i could besides administering the medicine,

(herbs, remedies)? i have a 17 week old olde english bulldogge. the vet said it would get worse before it got better. she is hacking up white spit/phlegmish substance, which is not all bad, but it seems like today has been the worst day for her. she is still eating and seems coherent, but just seems really down. i feel helpless because i cannot help her. she did not sleep very well last night and the sleep she mostly had was because i stood up and monitored her assuring her to sleep. the vet precribed doxycycline 100mg 0.5 tabs twice daily and guaifensn 100/dextromethrpn 10mg twice daily. i am currently starting he own a vitamin for her immune system. any thoughts and or answers will be greatly appreciated.
