There are no safe or effective medications for a baby that young. Never ask strangers for advice when it comes to putting drugs in your baby's system. If you are really concerned, call you pedi and leave a message for the on call doc to call you back. Place a small pillow under your son's mattress to elevate his head and help him breathe better at night. Run a vaporizer constantly, not only at night. Try the Vick's baby vapor rub on his chest, and use the vapor baby bath wash. Don't allow him to have long periods of crying because that'll stuff him up more. |

No meds. Try to put a blanket under his mattress to elevate him slightly. Remember, he is only 6 weeks, he has no idea how to swallow and clear his nose. He's probably not sick, just keeping mucus (and milk) in the back of his throat. It goes down and he doesn't know how to cough it back up yet. My son went through the same thing for about 3 months.

Call the pediatricina before you give a baby that little anything. In the meantime, you can set up a vaporizer in his room, use a bulb syringe to keep his nose clear, and make sure he is drinking plenty or breastmilk. |

There is not. But you can try some other things to help your son. Get a humidifier or vaporizer for his bedroom and also get one for the room your are in most often and let it run all day and all night. Plug your tub, turn the shower on HOT and pour in a capful of J&J Soothing Vapor Bath. Sit in there with your son for a little bit. The menthol and the steam combined will really help your son. You could also put son Baby Vicks Vapor rub on his chest and feet. I prefer only using it on the feet and covering them with socks since the menthol makes your body feel cool. Place a pillow under one side of his mattress or have him sleep in his swing, carseat or bouncer so he can breathe better. I hope he gets better soon. =) |

You can give him a humidifier, saline nasal drops, and lots of cuddles. I would ask the doctor. I would definitely not give any kind of over the counter medication. Some people say baby Vick's is ok, but I have heard it does not work and it can just irritate the baby more. Also, you can put the baby in a carrier or bouncy chair on the bathroom floor while you take a very hot shower, and the steam will help him. Good luck.

Nope. Set up a cool mist humidifier or a vaporizer in his room when he sleeps, and I'm not sure if he's old enough yet, but you can also prop a pillow UNDER the mattress in his crib to allow drainage. Best bet - call your pediatrician and see what they recommend. |
