Is it ok to give my two year old a medicine for pinworms? She is 2 years and 5 months old. And I am thinking of giving her this because she is not eating very well lately. She is very skinny but she has a belly, she looks pale and when she is hungry she only wants to drink juice or milk. the doctor says she is ok because she is 26 pounds and that is ok with the grow chart or whatever. And he said that if my girl is not itching on her bottom, then there are no pinworms. She got a radiography of her stomach yesterday and this morning the nurse called me and said she's just constipated, and that I should give her milk of magnesia, but she did not say how much or for how long, but the guy at the farmacy said give her 1 to 3 tsp. for this day only. Any similar cases out there? Please help, should I do something else? I want my girl to look healthier or a little bit more chunky, I'm worried about her.

Be a responsible parent. I understand that you are concerned about your daughter, but you are not a medical professional. Do not give her medication for pinworms if she doesn't have pinworms. Would you give her cold medicine if she didn't have a cold? Or would you yourself take blood pressure medicine if you didn't have high blood pressure? No, you wouldn't. Secondly, medications for parasitic worms can be VERY toxic. they should ONLY be given under the care of a doctor. She probably doesn't want to eat because she's constipated. Her tummy is already full, and that fullness is causing her to think that she isn't hungry. Keep encouraging the fluids, that will help with the constipation. Also, try having her eat more foods high in fiber, like whole wheat bread, and vegetables. Milk of magnesia is wonderful and one of the safest drugs around. After her constipation clears up, she should be back to eating and drinking again. If she doesn't eat a lot under normal circumstance, make sure that she gets foods that have high nutrition and not empty calories. Fresh, home-cooked meals are the best. Processed food (frozen, canned, prepackaged, etc) is often devoid of vitamins and high is sodium and other preservatives. If she is encouraged to eat healthy foods that contain all the necessary nutrients then she will be healthy, regardless of what weight she is. Your daughter is a healthy weight. Don't push food on her. Kids eat when they are hungry. If you push food on her now, it could lead to life long struggles with food and weight problems. And please, listen to the people in your doctor's office. I think you have tried to do some self-diagnosing, typed in your daughters symptoms and came up with pin worms. If average, everyday people could diagnose things accurately via the internet, then doc's and nurses wouldn't need degrees.

all babies have bellies that's normal..no don't give her pin worm medicine cuz she doesn't have them. Call her doctor and ask him/her how much of milk of magnsia u should give her and how long. If shes not chunky then shes not meant to be that way.
