| If I take flu medicines to alleviate my symptoms, will it take longer for my body to get better? A friend told me the other day that If I take medicines like NyQuil or DayQuil to alleviate my symtoms, it takes longer for my body to get rid of the pathogens. Is this true?      |

| No - this is not true. It naturally takes around 10 days for the symptoms to decrease to the point they are no longer bothersome and taking any medications to alleviate some of the symptoms will NOT prolong your illness. Your body takes this long to fight off the "bug" whether you take medications or not. |
