Anyone got any advice about herbal or traditional medicine alternatives to...

...fluoxitine (prozac)?
I exercise in the fresh air every day, walking my dogs. My depression is part of fibromyalgia and prozac has worked in the past but not a long term solution I really want, hence asking for alternative therapies. GP said 'having a positive attitude helps'- difficult when you're in constant pain!

i wouldnt suggest any alternatives i would only suggest if you have been prescribed to you you should either take them or go back and discuss it again with your doctor. you dont have to be on these for good they could be short term answer. good luck.

Your GP will have all the advice you need. Book an appointment and talk it through. Is the fluoxetine causing any bad side effects? I was on it for a year and it made me really anxious. Just think about whether it has helped, what side effects you've had and talk this through with your GP and also what altenatives there are. St. johns wort is good but you need to look at the symptoms of your depression and discuss what would work best for you.

St Johns Wort is supposed to be an alternative to anti-depressants.. But if I were you (just try this for a week or two)., go out cycling or jogging or swimming or do something physical every day that involves fresh air... just try it - it works very well for a lot of people.
