do perscriptive acne medicines work better than over the counter ones?

I used to have maybe 1 or 2 zits at a time on my face in 7th grade. Then in 8th grade it got a little worse and I started to wear makeup but it didnt irritate my skin. Now that im a freshman I have it EVRYWHERE. Some are bumps and some are just little red dots and now I have blackheads all over my nose. Is their a good cvs brand? Ive heard some stuff about the more expensive things like the clinique acne solutions..do those work? Andd is it worth getting my mom to go to a dermitiologist? THANKS YALL!
