Can I take cold medicine containing Acetaminophen 4 hours after taking Tylenol?

I have tonsillitis and a cold, and my doctor tells me to take tylenol, but it's not doing much so I want to try some cold medicine. The problem is they both have Acetaminophen in them and I don't know if I should wait longer or not.

they are the same meds. they can be taken 4 hours apart.
