Is it possible for someone to not recognise their own mental health issues?

But accuse someone else of having them, and insist that the other person gets help?
Even though the person doing the accusing is actually the person who needs the treatment?

depending on the illness its very possible. most people don't self-reflect. So often they won't see the problems they have while at the same time giving advice on how to fix a problem they also suffer. Also people are afraid to admit they have a problem so they may see it but ignore it.

I doubt that ANYBODY can see themselves objectively! What is that saying about pointing at someone? The other fingers are pointing at yourself!! A person unsatisfied sp? in a relationship, could profit from going to a mental health professional h/himself--instead of complaining about the other person! Learning about oneself is the most productive use of time.

It's always different when the shoe is on the other foot..... It is far easier to point out flaws in other's than to recognize your own and it mentally elevates us to deny having the same flaws. Even if we were to recognize that we possess that same flaw, we rationalize it as okay for 'me' because I have an excuse but it's not okay for you. Ever hear the expressions "Look in the mirror" or "Takes one to know one" or "It's different for me" or "pot calling the kettle black"?

I think so because:-
a) mental health problems creep up on you if they are not lifelong
b) sufferers are not very self-aware and it is easier to recognise other people's faults before your own.
