when will they wright a modern mythology?

just curious. I'd like to see one. even of it's not taken seriously. I guess I'm just tired of the lack of deep involved cultural stories that we seem to be lacking today. that and I really like to hear about modern version of the ancient world or at least a modern world where we still have these mythical beings. story wise that is. I would really like to read or watch a movie on a story like that. especially if it where a modern ancient japan.

what is your suggestion on entertainment I could get that would fulfill this need.
I know this is a crazy question but oh well.

i think the latest was star wars wait another ohh 20 years or so and youll get your modern myth. they only come around every so often =D
