Greek mythology has its roots in Sumerian Mythology (and all the others that came before). The names are from Greek language, and have all sorts of roots.

According to Flavius Josephus who lived at the same time as Paul in the 1rst Cen. A.D. When (Gen.6) fallen angels came down and mated with earth women, this strange demi-god type race came about. He says this is the origin of the Greek gods.It is also the reason God flooded the earth ,to get rid of them. There stature grew over the years to "godhood" status. But they were larger and powerful and some were very strange.
