I think a person can indeed trust the Scriptures as the sure record of God's dealings with mankind since his original direct creation by God "from the dust of the ground". The lives and events recorded in the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments - and now vindicated by the finds of history, archaeology and paleontology - leave no doubt that the skeptics of years gone by were totally wrong in assigning the Scriptures to the trash-pile of ancient mythology. I'll give you a couple reasons to think about ... One is the Bible's uniqueness and unity. The Bible was written by over 40 authors who came from just about every walk of life conceivable, including fisherman, kings, a butler, priests, and a tax collector. The 66 books of the Bible were written over a 1,500 year span in three languages on three continents with one theme and no contradictions. It would be like if fragment of stone were found in Italy, another in Asia Minor, another in Greece, another in Egypt, and on and on until sixty-six fragments had been found, and if when put together they fitted perfectly together, making a perfect statue of Venus de Milo. Most people would arrive immediately at the conclusion that there was originally a sculptor who conceived and carved the statue. Yet another reason Christians believe God is the ultimate author of the Bible is the predictive prophecies in the Bible. This aspect is unique to the world's religions because if one predicts something will happen and it does not, they are proven to be phony. The Bible is literally filled with detailed prophecies that have been fulfilled with 100% accuracy. Another indicator of the reliability of the Bible as God's word comes from the lengths disciples of Jesus went through to proclaim the gospel. In spite of extreme persecution, people were willing to die for Jesus and His message!

That's because Christianity is the religion of the century right now. In another hundred years, Christianity will be disregarded as mythology, just like the Greek's and Roman's beliefs were, and some new, equally or more-so far fetched religion will take its place as the 'true' religion.

| Ultimately, all that matters is that none of those other religions or myths had a man who died... stayed dead... and then came back to life three days later. Plus, a whole big crowd of people heard God say: As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:16-17) If some other religion or organization managed to do all that, then maybe I'd consider it to be valid. But since there isn't, then Christ is the only way for me. | I agree to a point, but it's up to each individual to research it for themselves. I don't think you should rely on others. I look at it like this. There are hundreds of thousands of Mormons and the average Christian will tell them they have been deceived. Wouldn't it be ironic for Christians to eventually find out they have also been deceived. If you read up on Judaism, there was a specific criteria that the Messiah should fulfill when he came to earth, some of those where, universal knowledge of God, universal peace, rebuilding of the third temple. Jesus never fulfilled any of these. So then Christians proclaimed, oh wait, he will fulfill these at his second coming. It's strange that Christians look through the New Testament and look at the specific criteria to happen for them to know when it is Christs second coming, or the anti-Christ, but they ridicule Jews for doing the same thing when Jesus allegedly came. When he allegedly came, Jews denied him because he didn't fulfill these prophecies, they had that right to do that. I believe Christians are in error, so that leaves my next research within Judaism. I believe God gave us all a brain to research it for ourselves. I wouldn't follow any religion without looking into it first, and especially not out of some fear of hell. |

Number one the bible is the oldest book around and time was meant for man only. Other religions get their sources from the bible and make their own beliefs because they find the bible is to hard to live by because their thoughts are evil.

Catholics and Christians would never admit that some of their biggest claims were remnants of Mythical beliefs. To wit, even the Old Testaments account of the flood could have been based on the Old Babylonian Myth. The aim was not necessarily to fool people but rather to make a point on the rewards of living in righteousness. which really is the image of God.
