Relations Between Norse Mythology and Middle Easterm Folklore?

for a while, i have been looking for correlations between Norse Mythology and other mythologies. in my research, i came upon a series of stories from the Middle East known as the Nart Sagas, which make up the folklore of the Northern Caucasus. my research has also told me that the two mythologies share some striking similarities, but i have not found out what those similarities are. the only correlation i have discovered so far is the existence of a large tree in both mythologies linking together the Earth, the underworld, and the heavens.

i am particularly interested in the major events concerning the Narts. according to the Wikipedia article on Batraz, one of the Narts, the Narts would "ultimately do battle with heaven itself". i am interested in the details concerning that battle and how it relates to Batraz if at all.

any information about Batraz, the Nart Sagas, and their similarities to Norse mythology would be most helpful.
