Love Yourself First has a spectacular aura about
I am a huge fan of Greek Mythology. I am planning on changing my name to Persephone.?

I believe I have an unbelievably ghetto name that does not fit me at all. After I graduate college in a few months I plan on changing my name to Persephone. Sounds like stephanie except with the per at the begininng. Would this unique name hurt my chances of finding a job? If you were a employer would you hire a woman named Persophone?
I am adopted and I plan on telling my biological mother the reasons behind my name change. I plan on changing my last name too if that's possible, I don't feel connected to my adopted family so why keep their last name. I am not doing this because I have low self esteem either. I just plan on making big changes this year and my name happens to be first on the list.
Thank you for the feedback. I do believe that even though they arent supposed to employers judge you on your name, especially black women. And you know how a lot of them go crazy on the names. I know couple of females named after alcoholic drinks! I say if you have the chance to make it right then by all means do so. Have a great day everyone!

Yeah, I'd hire you, but I'd recommend you avoid pomengranates.

The myth of Persephone and Demeter is one of my favorites. I do not beleive it will make any difference in your work-life, names really arent an issue. I beleive it is a brilliant idea, it does not sound like you just decided this willy-nilly(omg i cant beleive i just used the term willy-nilly), you thought about it, have your own reasons, and chose a name unique to yourself and your personality. Go you!

I'd think it was a tad sad, but that's only because I know you INTEND to change you name and the reason behind it.

Your parents gave you the name you had. Unless you're planning on becoming a film star, it'd be an insult to your parents to change your birth name just because you like the sound of Persephone.

Ever since we read her story in middle school, I have always wanted to name my little girl - if I ever have one - Persephone. It's such a beautiful name! I wouldn't avoid hiring you just because of the name, you'd probably get many compliments on it.

It's a lovely name with tremendous depth. It would be unique in the states, but as a Greek name it really isn't odd at all. If you're not happy with your name and a change will make you feel better about yourself it's a well thought out, beautiful choice.
