I have writers block, its my dream to write a bestseller, i need help my book is based on greek mythology, Artemis, Zeus, Ares, Aphrodite...any ideas? im planning on giving the money to my family, help? What i mean is that what can be a main idea, like mine was a girl named Yvaine finding out that she was a long lost god of olympus and having hades trying to kill her (main idea), i want to know your opinion of it and your idea of something like it...thanks! =] |

I'm telling you now, you can't really write a bestseller at thirteen; unless you're an extremely good writer, which not many barely-teenagers or even regular teens are. The point of fiction writing is to make something seem real, and an author needs a bit of general life experience, to be able to shape characters and plots realistically. At 13, you're just starting your life. Give it time. I am NOT telling you not to write it, in fact, I think you should for experience. I'm just saying don't expect it to be a bestseller. Keep writing.

It hurt to read this question. A bestseller is a book that sells well simply because it's selling well. It's useless to try to write a bestseller because you can't predict what will and what won't be one. Concentrate on writing well. Sit down, plot out your story, decide what you want to do. Do some research on the personalities of the gods, too, otherwise you'll tick off Greek-mythology buffs. You can't expect anyone to do much, if any, of the work for you. Also note that at thirteen, your prose probably isn't up to snuff, so you won't be published by a legitimate publisher or picked up by a legitimate agent. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm saying it's _unlikely_. If you and your family need money, may I suggest a fundraiser? A bake sale? Maybe a car wash? Writing is the _worst_ way to make a living. Unless you're prolific and extremely lucky (more lucky than anything,) you're unlikely to make a great deal of money off writing. If you're looking for something that will make you a lot of money, I recommend you get into the health or technology fields.

Uhm, I think you should just focus on getting the book done, then published, THEN you can think about it being a best seller book! And I don't think it's possible to write a bestseller if it isn't with your own ideas. Sure, you're having writer's block, but you should ask for ideas for minor things, not the whole subject of the book.

Hold your Horses there sweetheart- you're lucky if you even get published. You're even more lucky if you sell more than 100 copies a year. Don't expect to be a bestseller on your first try. Try an unusual greek (or Roman, Mayan, Atzec, etc..) god. You could make it a name of the person or him/her him/herself. (--Hello? Artemis Fowl?) Be creative.
