Why is Greek mythology, just a myth, but the stories in the bible are true?

If the Greeks believed that their Gods were real and the stories they told about their Gods were true to them. Why isn't it true to us now? Would you think that if we were raised in ancient Greece that we would be convinced that Apollo or Zeus existed? Could we say the same thing about religion today? Christianity, Judaism and Islam for example, are convinced that their God(s) are real and the stories that took place in the Talmud, Bible, Koran etc. are beyond a shadow of the doubt, real? Why do religious people insist that their beliefs are the absolute truth when it's not true for for the rest of us?

1.) The first thing we learned when I was studying Greek mythology is that the ancient Greeks did NOT view thier gods as being part of a religion
2.) It is not widely practice anymore
3.) The Greek gods were personifications of emotions, feeling, and natural events
4.) The gods were modeled after people

I asked my grandmother the exact same thing when i was five or six and she flipped.

OK, I didn't go into that kind of detail, but the premise was the same.

Notwithstanding "Mr. I Believe", your question is anything but stupid and points out something that is obvious on one level and subtly elusive on another. There is now, and there has been in the past, a great war for the control of people's minds. Christianity won and has had 2,000 years to show its stuff, and it's the same ol' same ol. Read up on the similarities betwee Horus of ancient Egypt and Jesus. A total rip-off from the Egyptians. If, god forbid (and I use the term "god" merely as a figure of speech), Islam should achieve world dominiation, then guess who will be the one "true" myth-du-jour? And on it goes. The really sad part is we would lose nothing and gain much by a complete paradigm shift from any and all religion. There is even a great abudance of ideas in which direction we should evolve.
