| What are some great books about Norse mythology besides the Eddas? I love Norse mythology. There are two books sitting on my bookshelf right now that I would have no problem recommending to anyone. The first one is called "Exploring The Northern Tradition: A Guide To The Gods, Lore, Rites And Celebrations From The Norse, German And Anglo-saxon Traditions" by Galina Krasskova and Swain Wodening. The title is a bit long but there is some great stuff in there. You won't be disappointed. Here is a link to buy that book:http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Exploring-the-Northern-Tradition/Galina-Krasskova/e/9781564147912/?itm=1The second book I would highly recommend is simply called "The Norse Myths" by Kevin Crossly Holland. Holland takes the stories from the Prose Edda and retells them in a way that might make more sense to the uneducated reader. Brilliant stuff. Here is a link to buy that one:http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Norse-Myths/Kevin-Crossley-Holland/e/9780394748467/?itm=1If you have any questions about Norse myth, feel free to email me. My Yahoo name, as you can see, is norseheathen. I worship the Norse gods just as my ancestors did over a thousand years ago. I apologize if this answer is a bit long but Norse myth questions rarely come up in this section.I hope that answers your question.Enjoy the myths. |
