Is the griffin an animal from Greek mythology?

No the griffin was stolen from the Egyptian after the Greeks defeated them in warfare.. And took over almost all of the Egyptian gods... Including their demi-god Hercules..... Which was one of the Greeks most famous and written about demi-gods........... Now you can see the truth of my words by looking it up for yourself...........

Yes and no. The legend about the griffin being a blend of eagle and lion is first (as far as I know) recorded in Herodotus however there is artwork from Crete and Mesopotamia showing creatures very similar to the greek descriptions of Griffins with an earlier date. Its not a Greek myth but the Greeks did spread the legend of the griffin. The legend seems to have started somewhere in Central Asia and spread to the Mediterranean.
