need help in finding the meaning of weather sayings/folklore. I have a list just...

...need to found the meanings ?
I need 3 sentences for each, I have 7 but need 3 more.
When geese cackle, it will rain.
If the lark flies high, expect fair weather.
A wind from the south has rain in its mouth.
The louder the frog, the more the rain.
Chickweeds close their leaves before a rain.
The hooting of the owl brings rain.
Dandelion blossoms close before a rain.
Horses run fast before a violent storm or before windy conditions.

These are just a few as I have 2 full pages any help would be great !!!!!!!!!!

Maybe you should post the list.

EDIT: Okay, I can tell you the reasons for some of these.

Flowers smells best just before rain: it is usually damp and cloudy just before rain, meaning the sunlight and dryness aren't baking away the moisture and essential oils that make the flowers fragrant.

Dandelions (or other flowers) close before a storm/Chickweeds close their leaves before a rain: semi-true. Some plants will close up if there isn't enough sun, and again, there is usually not sun before a storm.

If a lark flies high expect fair weather: If the lark flies high it means that there aren't many clouds blocking it, and that the weather is warm enough to reach high altitude without freezing.

Geese cackle/Frogs croak noisily before rain: This one has no scientific backing, but the origin is explained here: http://www.almanac.com/question/oneanswer.php?questionnumber=12997

Horses run faster before wind: Another without scientific backing, but I'd imagine it's related to the saying "he's running like the wind."

Wind from the South has rain in its mouth: If you live near the Gulf of Mexico this will tend to be true.

A hooting of the owl brings rain: The Barred Owl is also called a Rain Owl. Whether this is because of the superstition or whether the superstition is due to this, is unclear.

There is also this: http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wproverb.htm

Sorry I can't be of more help, but there is no one source I know of for determining the origins of all weather sayings. Has to be done on a case by case basis.
