Do I get paid while IN Navy basic or AFTER?

There is alot of mixed answers about Boot Camp pay. Some people said they got paid after and some while in. Anyone with recent Navy experience have a direct answer to the pay period while in basic? Thanks.

you get paid during bootcamp. went to bootcamp 2 yrs ago.

You get paid Active Duty pay while at RTC Great Lakes.

i rememberthat we got pay in boot canp because my mother got money sent in a alotment while i was in boot camp

pay accrues from day one. for all practical purposes, however, it will be eight weeks before you see any of it..and since Boot is nine weeks long.....

absolute earliest you could see a deposit would be in 4-6 week range.. but Navy tends to be the slowest of all to set up mypay..meaning expect 6-8 weeks.

Yes you recieve pay while in boot camp. You may or may not have access to it until you graduate though. I'm not sure how its going now, when I went through 11 years ago, we recieved money "chits" that you could use to purchase things from the base exchange. (toothpaste, shaving cream, ect...) If you do not complete boot camp you still will recieve pay for the time you attended.

Your pay is deposited into an account and you have access to just a small amount of it and there are a lot of things that you are restricted from having while in Basic. You will not need much in the way of money and some recruits don't have experience with handling their money and so it prevents problems early on for everyone. Once you are out of Basic you then have access to the total amount. There is of course, some ways of getting access to the total for emergencies and such and they will brief you on this when you in-process and start your pay record.

You do get paid in boot camp, but not much. You do not have much to spend it on anyway. Everyone is paid the same in bootcamp, but people with advance pay grades get extra back pay at the end.

My hubby is an Army recruiter and I know that everyone starts getting paid the first day of boot camp.
