I used to have some,,, but I would hate to scare you...

I loved the Navy, but the sleeping conditions on ships stink. Just imagine three cots with storage underneath about 18 inches deep w/ a 3 inch mattress on top. Then you get maybe two feet of head space before there is another cot.

Kinda like being squeezed in a can of sardines.

Go to the Battleship New Jersey website. They have pictures of the bunks. Todays' ships are very similar. Best of luck in the Navy. One word of advice. Open a savings account here at home and put $50 or 100 per month allotment from your pay. DON'T TAKE AN ATM CARD for it. If you decide to stay in, you can save for a house at your next duty station (that you will rent out when you move on), and repeat and repeat until you retire. If you leave after your tour, you'll have more than enough for rent, security, and furnishings.
