| How does Navy boot camp change someone? I am thinking about joining the Navy or the Marine Corps, and one of the great parts of the Marine Corps is the fact that their boot camp forges you into a better person (i.e. more adherent to the military code of conduct). So, I was wondering if the Navy boot camp would be able to do the same thing. I mean, I want to go through the breaking down/building up process in Marine Corps boot camp, but I also feel like my natural strengths would do more good for the country if I joined the Navy (especially with boot camp-instilled discipline). I appreciate your input. |

| Your basic values and personality will not change......but all of life's experiences will change you to some degree...... you will grow and learn with every experience..... in or out of service Worry more about what job you would like to have.....how you will serve your time..... Basic, boot.....does not matter......when it is over you will move on to a new different adventure...... The basic "tearing down" you refer two has two purposes....ONE....to measure your reserve.....your commitment..... to push you to your limits to see how far you can go.....you will surprise yourself..... you will accomplish things you never believed you could.....you will grow as an individual TWO....a unit is composed of diverse people.....rich, poor.....smart , stupid......military, civilian..... handsome , ugly.....ALL TYPES of people....harsh training tears down these artificial barrier's and creates a unified whole.....A TEAM.... often they give you a common enemy....or hero......the DI Whichever you choose..... think positive.....YOU will be fine |
