Why do you want to control your friend?

Let me ask you, lets say you wanted to do something. Would you like it if someone tried to talk you out of it?

In todays world, mostly the navy is out of harms way. He can earn money and a trade that can be useful later in life.

Why talk him out of it? With a recession, joining the military will give him job security for 4-6 years (depending on what he signs on for) and job security is priceless right now. He'll have 3 meals a day, a home, and wonderful medical/insurance, all that the military gives him. If he signs up for the Montgomery GI Bill, he can walk away with money for a college education too. Why talk him out of that if its something he wants to do?

He's not joining the Navy for the money. You can make money at the post office. Maybe that's the excuse he's giving you, because he knows you don't approve.

You can't make him not join if that's what he wants to do. If he's signed up now in wartime, believe me, he WANTS to join the Navy for reasons other than money, or benefits he may not live to enjoy. You may not understand or agree, but it's quite obviously the truth.

It's his decision, not yours.

Break his leg. Beyond that, if he really wants to join, let him. Support him. Recognize that he has his own opinion and can lead his own life and you can't talk him out of everything.

(And any good horror stories you have about boot camp might help too)

Why don't you join the service and give back to your country? Sounds like your friend is an honorable person signing up during a time of war.

I don't know what to tell you because I'm going to join the NAVY and I am doing it for the training and the money help that they give. What I don't understand is why you don't want your friend to not join. Just go to the website navy.com and check it out before you tell your friend to not join. Well good luck and if you need more info please contact me!
