I was discharged from the Navy with a general under HONORABLE conditions but with an RE-4 can I go back in? At the end of 2002 my wife was very very sick and I disobeyed a standing order. They gave me a choice of either going to the brig for a week and loss of one weeks pay and one drop in pay grade I was an e-5 at the time and was in for 9 years. Or to get administration discharge. I took the administration discharge because of my wife being sick. Now she is better and I want to go back into the Navy. What are my chances? My wife was very very very sick and I was on a HUMS when it happened I thought it would be better to get out to take care of her. All though the Navy was my life. They thought my wife might even die.One other thing the National Guard said they would take me in a heart beat. I also have letters of recommendations from officers and such. It was on shore duty, In NJ and nothing was going on it was all quite it was a year after 9/11 and I was working at a Reserve training center doing in doc and working in supply ... Out of my rate as a BM.

As it was said to me with an RE3C. It would take an act of God to get you in. You can try joining the army national guard and prove yourself. This is the only way back in. It could have worked for me. But my rebellious nature said no. I didn't really want back in.

Well I think you did everything right. It sounds very plausible that you can return. It's not like you were doing something bad and got arrested. Your wife was very ill and you went to care for her as any good husband would. National Guard will take you if the Navy won't. You have letters and I think that is even better. I hope you pursue the Navy again. If that doesn't work you can try the National Guard. I think it's awesome! Thanks for serving our country by the way. Have a great day and I hope everything turns out for you!!!!
