Do you mean "shore" positions...as in not likely to deploy?Certainly not anything in the SeaBees or anything with a "shipboard" sound. Try LN...very limited ship duty.

Unless the Navy has changed there isn't a MOS. There are NECs that get assigned upon specialized training. As an AO many years ago I carried an F8 and a SH-3 Nec meaning I was a qualified ordnanceman on those two aircraft. That doesn't answer the question though. If you don't want a shipboard job I'd suggest you enlist in a different branch of service. Most of the engineering, aviation, shiphandling necs will deploy. The snipes do fill co2 fire extinguishers on board ship and handle liquid oxygen also. I have met some Patrol Squadron aviation types that never served aboard ship but they do deploy.

Aviation Support Equipment Technicians are both ship-based and some are assigned to naval air stations. There are several types of specialization that can be both assigned to ships and naval bases.Since all warships can make their own repairs and has a crew to deal with most conceivable problems, only major repairs are done in drydocks. One thing sure is that the enlisted men rope handlers on the docks will never be assigned to on board duties.

Navy has ratings, not MOS's. when you say dock, do you mean pier side operations, or shore duty? Pier side ops are civilian contractors for the most part. Only CTI and the SeaBee ratings are shore duty only..and they deploy as often if not more so than anyone on sea duty.
