| do the navy's civil engineers go to war?
You need to see " The cee bees" (or something like that). There job is to constuct what is needed in recently captured or disputed territory so they can work under fire. If you are worried about leaving your family for a month peraps the millitary is an option to pass up. They can be a bit uncompromising about where you go and for how long!

| do the navy's civil engineers go to war?
Yup, the answer above got it right, just it is Sea Bees not Cee Bees.Engineers are an important part of all assault forces. They build the bases, set up the communications, make airfields and bridges.(and even get shot at now and then, in addition to all the risks of injury construction work involves)

| do the navy's civil engineers go to war?
From what I have seen in the Seabees, all the officers and chiefs just sit in the AC all day long and push paper from one side of the desk to the other, never leaving the FOB. While they make all the lower ranked enlisted Seabees work in 110 degree heat all day long while wearing full body armor but wearing a plastic construction hat is OK.

| do the navy's civil engineers go to war?
There are two different possibilities here depending on what you mean by your question.A civil servant civil engineer - GS rated - typically works in an office at a naval shipyard. However, they may be sent off-station to places where ships are moored (but not overhauled) such as Everett, WA, home to a carrier and a few surface ships or Guam where a sub contingent is stationed. An officer in the Navy - Ensign, LT, Commander - will have multiple assignments at various bases and facilities. Much more mobile. So which one did you mean?
