Should I join the Navy ?? My husband joined the Army right out of HS because I was pregnant .. and wanted to provide for us. Since then he's been deployed to Iraq twice, even missing second daughters birth. Now his contract is up, and he can't wait to get out. But I'm worried about how we're going to live.. we're used to complete security and medical for our kids. I was thinking about joining the Navy and giving him a break home, with the kids and to get schooling done. I'm scared about deployments and what effect that will have on my two girls (4 yrs and 4 months old). Am I underestimating my husbands ability to care for them? Should I just get over it and do this for my family or make my husband come home and go get a job. I know it's the man's place as the head of the house and everything, but maybe thats a little out of date? Plus I would have money for school when I got out too. I just think I'm scared of such a change .. any advice would help!!

He should be getting some form of benefits being that he was in the army, you should ask around and see what your's and his options are at this time. Like i said he should be getting benefits even after he's done with his time.

In all honesty, I understand your point. My husband and I are both Navy. To be honest, I have to say stay away from the Navy...if you go into anything chose the airforce. The Navy likes to say they are all for family and stuff, but in all honesty they aren't as good as they say they are. Research ALL your options before making a decision. If you choose to go in your girls will understand when they get older if they don't understand now. I just had a baby 7 months ago, and it's tough to be in the position I have now. Have you spoken to your husband about this? If not, that is who you should be talking to about this. Contact the local recruiters and don't take any crap from them, a lot of them will throw bull*hit out there to you. Good luck with whatever you do.

You are right it is his job to provide so he should get a job. And he probably will and also be a good father. Joining the Army would also be a good opportunity for you as well. You all need to sit down and discuss what is best for your family and take it from there. Good luck!
