| My air force boyfriend and I plan on getting married after tech school.. advice?
He'll be home for about a month before he gets sent to his first base.. we'll probably get married soon after he comes home. Will I be able to go live with him as soon as he gets sent wherever he has to go or do I have to wait for paperwork or anything?

If you want to go to the first duty station right away with him, I would marry right after boot camp and allow paper work to go through while at Tech school. That way the extra perdiem can be saved to help you move at the same time. That would also allow you to prepare for the move with him while he has the time off after Tech school. You both can contact people at the base who will help you find a place before you go and if you get there early it will allow you to settle in. With some one on one time and you would not be left behind. About half of the people go to Germany. 1/2 of what remain go to Korea. That leave 1 in 4 of the remaining between Robbins Ga, Springfield Mass, Del Rio TX. Offit Ne, Davis Mon in Tuscon, San Antonio TX, Minot N. Dakota.and at least four other places in the West in which you might stay. You want to research the areas. Like http://www.city-data.com/ Will help you look for places close to the bases that might be nice to live. I know the Area around Robbins and Macon Ga are nice while I would not live in those two cities. The more you know the better you will be. Remember that lots of people around the bases live off of taking advantage of the military personel and scam them. Slum lords etc. personally I would never live within 5 miles of the US bases. Some are really hard like Hawaii, West coast, and San Antoino bases. If you are staying state side first I would get local people you know help you to get a reliable car before you move. So You both will have a way to get around. And a second income. |
