I'm considering joining the Navy but I don't want to move......HELP!?

My husband and I bought a house about 6 months ago and while we want to have kids we just can't afford to right now. So I'm considering joining the Navy to make life a little easier and get a chance to save up some money.
The only problem is I don't want to get stationed away from home because we can't move. Is there any way I can guarantee they won't move me to another state and or country if I enlist? And please don't suggest another branch of the military, I grew up Navy and I'll stick with it.
Thanks.

maybe on reserves.....its pretty much impossible to get into an active duty spot and not have to move. and another branch isnt going to help either, they all move around. if you dont want to move and your only enlisting to save up money and make life easier you would be much better off to get a civilian job...seriously you can probably make a ton more money in a civilian job than you would the first few years in the navy anyway.

i ship out for the navy in july, you will have to go to great lakes, Illinois for your RTC [recruit training command] then come home for 10 days, after that you leave for your A school, and the location depends on your job. the higher your GPA, the better chance you have of being stationed where you want. as for living at your house... no way, thats not how it works. you might want to consider the reserves... or talk to a recruiter.

While joining a local reserve unit will not guarantee that you won't be deployed overseas, it is the best bet for helping assure you can serve most of your time near your residence.

However, you must be aware that a reservist's pay is nowhere near what one would get enlisting as a full timer. In other words, you'd probably STILL have to get a job outside the military. In the reserve, most of your duty would involve (after basic) one weekend a month and two weeks out of the year.

Still, since you come from a Navy family, it seems like THEY would be your best source of information.

Just be aware that ANY form of military service may oblige you to serve anywhere they want you to go, including overseas.

Go down to you local naval recruitment office and be frank with them about what you have in mind. There may be a shore posting but I would have thought that joining the Senior Service was bound to involve moving at some point.

no branch will quarantee you, where you want to live my only suggestions would be to join the reserves or the national guard.

Sorry but it just doesn't work that way. You should look into doing something local...local law enforcement maybe?
