Margaret B. Oehrke, Janesville (1908 - 2007)

Margaret B. Oehrke, age 99, a longtime Janesville resident, died on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Mercy Hospital. Margaret was born on Oct. 13, 1908, in Dodgeville, WI, daughter of the late Thomas and Ada (Anderson) Walton. She came to Janesville at the age of 10, attended Janesville schools and graduated from Janesville High School in 1928. On June 24, 1928, she married Floyd E. Silbaugh at Cargill United Methodist Church in Janesville. He died on March 11, 1966. She later married William H. Oehrke in Janesville in 1970, and he predeceased her in 1992. Margaret moved to Cedar Crest in 1990. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, serving on various committees and a member of the Ruth Circle. She organized the Senior Citizen's Group and was its president for 14 years. She was also the church historian and record keeper for 12 years, and a member of the Adult Bible Class.
She is survived by her 4 children: Roger (Lorna) Silbaugh of Madison, WI, Dale (Eileen) Silbaugh of Chicopee, MA, Marie (Carl) Schiefelbein of Cedarburg, WI and Jeanette (John) Krieg of Wausau, WI; stepson, Merlin Oehrke of Coral Springs, FL; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at MT. ZION UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, with visitation on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Margaret's name to the Salvation Army. Assisting with arrangements is the WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Janesville.
