Georgia’s 2nd Annual Missing Children’s Day Awareness Event Brethren, An update to where we stand with this event, I also request that this update be read in all possible Lodges. Please find the flyer attached to this email for the up coming GAChip event. Georgia’s 2nd Annual Missing Children’s Day Awareness Event Saturday May 17th Time 10 am – 4 pm located at GBI Headquarters; 3121 Panthersville Road Decatur, GA 30034. Located at the intersection of Clifton Springs Road . Less than 1 mile from the 285-Flat Sholes Road exit. The list of organizations that will attend this year and draw in children is much longer than the flyer allows us to advertize. As you can see there are many large organizations participating that are listed. We need and must have a strong showing if we wish to be invited back year to year. Almost 800 children were in attendance and registered last year at the first event. It did not have the list of groups that are drawing kids as this year, which is why 1500 children are expected for this event. This is not a stand alone Masonic event, however it will place the spot light directly on Georgia Masons. We should be the only group that interacts with every child that attends. We will have 20 computer stations for this event. If 1500 attend within the 6 hours, each of the stations must process 12.5 children per hour. This pace will be hard on volunteers so a rotation will be required to keep the pace. I estimate a need for 60 volunteers to properly staff this event, 4-5 of those being medical staff. Setup and tear down is needed, the hours for the volunteers will be closer to 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. All volunteers are welcome and need ed. I am in need of some form of a head count; please contact me if you or your Lodge will participate. Donations are still being solicited for this event. Current pledges for the event are as follows: Inman Park Marble & Granite $2,000.00 Great City Inspections Inc. $200.00 Gate City Lodge #2 $100.00 All donations should be made payable to: Georgia Masonic Charities Foundation Inc. They should be mailed to me at the address below, this way, donations will count towards this event, any mailed directly to Grand Lodge will go into the general fund and may not count towards this event. A training session will be held at Masters Lodge on Saturday May 3rd from 1 pm until 3 pm. IDs for the event will be provided at training. This event will bring state wide attention to our program; if seen as successful will help every event that follows throughout the state. I know that we are all pulled in so many directions everyday of our lives. It is easy to find a reason to be busy else where, than to give up a day of our time to serve our community. This is not a fund raiser; it is a community service to our fellow man. When was the last time you as a Mason reach outside of the Masonic doors into the general population and allowed a non Mason see what our organization was founded for? I fully believe that these types of events will not only help our children, but done in a positive light will grow Georgia Masonry. I am counting on my Brothers to help make this event successful. I am not asking for you to tread over the tundra shoeless, but I am sincerely requesting your help in this matter. Please clear your calendars and attend this event. It would truly be a blessing to see over 100 of my Brothers with their family and friends eagerly volunteering their precious time for so worthy a cause. Fraternally and Sincerely, Richard Sims
