| Can I use an IDE HD and an optical IDE drive in a SATA computer?
Hi I have a Dell Dimension 9200 whose motherboard (DXP061 series) is based on the Intel P965 chipset and there are no IDE connectors on it as the IDE interface is not supported by the chipset (to my knowledge anyway). I have a SATA HD and a SATA optical drive in the machine. However, I so happen to have a perfectly good Internal IDE hard disk drive (250 GB) and an equally good Internal IDE optical drive (LG brand DVD+/-RW burner) that I would like to use in my computer. This way, I could have 2 internal hard disk drives and 2 CD/DVD burners inside the machine. Is there some type of PCI internal card that could accomodate the connection of these two devices ? If so, could you tell me how they are called so that I can look for them on the internet ? Also, are there any brand better than others (assuming such cards exist). Any chipset better than others on these cards ? Would that be too much to connect 2 devices to the same card ? Could the card overheat ? Thank You |
