I am interested in becoming a member of the Order of the Eastern Star...?

But I do not know any members, or even Masons, in my locale. Is there some way that I can reach out to someone, or is it true that you have to be chosen?

No need to wait to be chosen, it doesn't work that way, also to become OES you do not have to be related to or even know a Mason.Contact your nearest Masonic Lodge (most are closed in July and August)- they are usually listed in the white pages, find out if that Lodge has an OES chapter or where the nearest one is, maybe the next town over. As soon as you find the nearest Lodge w/ an OES chapter you simply contact them and express your interest, they will help you along from there. You can check the web also as more and more Lodges and OES chapters are putting up websites.Good luck, I hope this helped.

You need only to find a member and ask. Look for the ring on a Mason, and they will most likely point you in the right direction. The Masonic Lodges are serious business: they're not drinking clubs, and represent excellent networking opportunities with excellent people. And sorry to hear that you're in mourning, sis. Keep socially active --- that will help.
