Order Of the Eastern Stars?

I'm considering joining but I am getting mixed information about the organization. I hear that it's excellent in one breath then I hear some chapters want you to do "un-Godly things" to join. Are there any Stars out there that is willing to give me your honest opinion of this organization and maybe some information? I find very limited info on the net.
