Can you help me with my tongue pain?

My tongue began to hurt three days ago. I do remember eating hot food that day, nothing too hot though, I doubt I burned it because the day after i didn't have pain but the day after that i did and the pain has been intensifying since then. It hurts on the front and the side of my tongue. After looking at my tongue, i realized that there is a fairly large red bump on the side of my tongue where it hurts (about 5mm in diameter) but nothing on the front. The pain is like a stinging sensation when i put it in contact with anything, like brushing it against my teeth when i eat or talk. Any help is appreciated thanks
