After taking out contacts I had horrible pain in my left eye. Do eyes heal quickly?

So I took out my contacts (not realizing they were dry), and after I had taken out the left contact I suddenly had sharp pain in my eye. It felt like something was in it- but i couldn't tell where it was. So i flushed my eye several times and nothing came out. Then I went to sleep, thinking it was a scratch and that it would go away. When I woke up to get ready for school it still had the same amount of pain. I could barely even open my eye it hurt so much.

So I went to the ER. So the doctor put some dye in my eye and then shined a little blue light in there too to check for scratches. They told me they did not see any scratches or anything. They told me it was just "irritated" and red. So they gave me prescription for eyedrops and vicadin (spelling?)


My eye still hurts now- but only when i blink and move it too much. I was just wondering if maybe there could possibly be something still in my eye??

Or does it just take long to heal?
