how to help with the pain of a toothache?

I am going to the dentist tomorrow morning, have the appointment and all, but I am having a major toothache tonight, it started about an hour ago and it KILLS! I need some ideas on what do it for it tonight so I can be pain free the rest of the night and be able to sleep! Any ideas of what to do?
I had this toothache yesterday and i took advil and no such luck...the only thing I have found works is putting pressure on my gums in the area of the pain. PLEASE HELP...I'm tired of having my finger in my mouth!! HAHA!

You can mix ibuprofen and tylenol for maximum pain relief. The recommendation I usually hear from the doc's is 200 - 400 mg. ibuprofen and 500 mg of tylenol. Or you can alternate the two every two hours. ie. ibuprofen at 2 pm, tylenol at 4 pm and so on. Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage for either medication.

Two advil or Tylenol or Motrin

and you wont feel a thing
