Severe lower back pain...I can hardly sit and stand? PLEASE HELP!?

So, I have had sever lower back pain for over a year now!!! It started last year and was to the left of my tailbone, but now it is my entire lower back! Its hard to sit up and i have to be leaning against something when Im sitting! It makes my legs very tingly..and it is very painful! I have to sleep with a heating pad evernight too! I went to the doc about it last year...he said my xrays were abnormal, but didnt really explain to me what was wrong? He said it was some bone causing swelling or something..but he said it should only hurt once in a while? Well, it hurts everyday all day!! and i cant stand it! My mom thinks its because of my weight..Im 170 and 5'3, and i have a pretty small frame! Ive gained 50 pounds in three years...could that be it?
