DolceVita has a spectacular aura about
Giving calpol when the child is not in pain and doesnt have a temperature!?

If either of my children has a cold/cough, my husband always insists on giving them Calpol. I usually give my children Calpol as I was directed by my GP - that when i see the first symptoms of illness (i.e. runny nose/sneezing). If no fever develops after the first 24 hours I stop giving Calpol.

My husband seems to think that if a child is sneezing a lot, that s/he might be experiencing pain (because my husband gets a lot of pressure build-up around his nose and head when he sneezes a lot). My oldest child is 27 months and very articulate - if she was feeling pain she would say so!!

I am concerned that my husband is over-medicating the children. Perhaps not to a dangerous level now, and certainly with no intent of doing harm, but i dont think its a good thing.

Please I would like to know your thoughts - sensible ones if poss, and would be great if i could hear from people who know a little about medecine. Is he right, or am i?

Cheers!
