First pain management appt....??

What normally happens at the first pain management appointment? Also, I'm normally on Lortabs and my doc said at my last appt that he was giving me enough til I go to pain management. So does that mean that the doc at pain management will likely continue to prescribe my meds? Thanks

They may change them but they will give you the medication needed to control your pain.. Before you go write down whee you hurt, when you hurt, when it gets worse, does the hydrocodone 10/500 work. Be very honest and open with them.

If you are taking a loratab every 6 hours for pain you may want to ask them about Oxycontin 20mg. 12 hour release. It doesn't have the 500 mg of Tylenol like the loratabs and it works far better for me.

When you have a general Dr. giving you pain meds all the time they will send you to a pain management Dr. So they can treat you for the pain issues. You will continue to see you general Dr. for other issues but the pain mang Dr. will have better and different ways to treat your pain. Bring your medical records with you to your first appointment that way your new dr will have everything up front and can treat you better on your first appt. Good luck.
