How much should I ask for pain and suffering?

My ex and I will be going to court soon. We live in the state of GA and he was arrested for assault and batter, and false imprisonment (two misdemeanors and a felony) about 1/2 year ago. Long story short, he told me he was going to kill me, beat me half to death then tried to trap me in my room in our apt. I escaped b/c he left to go to a gas station up the street. I had very few injuries mostly deep contusions, went to the hospital twice.

I'm filling out these forms they gave me but when I get to pain and suffering I don't know how much to ask for. How much is enough?
That makes sense. Definitely something to take into consideration, but I have no clue how much he makes now-a-days. I assume, after he got out of jail he moved into his bro's house who probably doesn't charge much. And he should've gotten his final certificate in construction in Sept 07 so he SHOULD be back into plumbing/construction which he made good $ off of before. This is only a guess though..
