Leg Pain from Severe Edema, Poss. Nerve Damage??

I had severe edema during my last trimester of pregnancy. I delivered Feb. 9, 2008 but I am still edemic, however the swelling has gone down. I just have pitting edema now. I am very worried about nerve damage. My legs were hugely, swollen and "wept" for days and days after delivery. Gross I know. What I deal with is constant pain in both of my legs, 24/7. I have had a normal MRI, but they did find Clonus in both my ankles and I do have a balance issue. The problem is that no one can diagnose me. I believe I am going to be scheduled for a nerve conduction study. The only thing that is working for the pain is Vicodin and Lyrica. Unfortunately, I am now dependent on both. My doctor is weaning me off the Vicodin but now I am in more pain. Any suggestions on how to tell the doctor I still need the Vicodin for my pain. Also, Lyrica has a very sedating effect, I can't take it for daytime as a PRN. If this sounds familiar please help, I could use any info to throw out to my dr.
