Is it normal to have actual physical pain from having my heart broken?

There is a horrible feeling in the center of my chest. It keeps getting bigger until now it feels like it must be the size of a basketball. it feels so horrible that there are no words to describe it. My heart has been truly crushed, I've never experienced such intense emotional pain like this before, is it normal to feel actual physical pain from having ones heart broken? what does/has it feel/felt like for you?
