How do I make my airbrush paint apply in a very small, delicate stream?

I have a fairly inexpensive airbrush "air pump" that comes with an airbrush attachment to spray the paint out. I can get it to paint without any problem. However, I'm trying to touch up oil paintings by adding tiny soft shadows and highlights. The airbrush is spraying a stream that is much too wide and heavy with paint. Do I need to buy a new airbrush attachment? Do I need to buy a completely new pump and airbrush? (I'd think if it were powerful enough for the large stream it could handle the small stream.) I can go to an art store and buy anything I need, but I need to know what I should be asking a sales person. It's possible I just need to buy some sort of air brush attachment that mists out paint instead of blasting it out.
