I have painted the floor boards of my house, not hardwood floors, what can I

do ? REad please:? Ok, I did not paint my hardwood floors, only the floorboard that is under carpet. but now I want to sponge paint or splatter paint or something to add some "decor" to it. Any good ideas ? This is called a poor man's way of dealing with "I can't afford new carpet.

go to DIY.com for some ideas about painting floors. there is something called EPOXY, which is paint and then you sprinkle some flakes on it. it looks really nice and lasts forever. ibet ifyou google "painted floor" you will find something really cool.

Sand it over and just stain it or varnish it would look better than painting it

OH man! Been there done that. It's awsome. Paint art or grafitti or poetry or whatever the heck you want. Remember it's just paint and you can change it whenever you want and eventually you'll cover it with carpet. Then, (even better) some day 25 years down the road someone will pull the old carpet to replace it and get a heck of a good laugh at what you painted on the floor. Have at it and anything goes.

Yes, great idea! Tape off 12x12 sqaures on the floor or make the tape lines look like stone. This will give you a tile with a mortar look. After you tape the lines rag on two colors that will give you a stone look. If you want it to look like marble sponge two colors and get a fine brush and add just a few lines that break off at the end.
Gook luck and have fun!

Check out some oriental rugs. I have seen one painted on a living room floor & it was amazing. If you want it to look more realistic, paint the basic pattern on the floor in a dark shade of the color you want to use then use one of those paint daubers that makes a small round circle and paint the lighter color over it. It makes 1/4 inch or smaller dots that would look like the end of of the yarns on carpet. Yes, it is time consuming, but it looked really cool. Once it is done, I would cover it with a couple of coats of good varnish to protect it.
