| Can I paint over newly applied white exterior paint with a Federation cream colour?
By trying to save money on paint, I have just today had a small section at the front of my house, around the stairs and on the front verandah, painted the same very bright white colour as they were using on the garage out the back. I didn't realise that, firstly it wouldn't match the gable on the roof as well as some other ornamental features, which are still painted cream. Also, the more I look at the front of the house, the more unwelcoming this bright white appears. Do I need to paint over the white with a darker colour than the cream in order to get the cream effect (will the white bleed through)? What sort of preparation do I need considering the surface has only just been painted?
