Painted turtles?? Anything you know would be nice??

My boyfriend being the avid fisherman and wildlife preserver he is brought home an injured painted turtle.

I have feed him raw hamburger (which he enjoyed very much) and turtle tablets. He is living in an aquarium with mud, water, rocks, and a stick. I wash my hands evrytime after i hold him.

Is there anything else i should know about Painted Turtles?
