| Is there any way to safely transport a large painting by foot? My dad died almost three years ago. He was a painter, a writer, and a sculptor. I'm living with my stepmom until the end of my senior year. Or at least, I was supposed to. Now she's decided she's going to move out of state before the year ends. So I was talking to my mom about which of my dad's paintings I want, and I mentioned that I wanted his self portrait. My mom then told me that my chances of getting it were slim, because it was supposed to go to my dad's longtime best friend, Shane, and my stepmom wouldn't even give it up. So I just took the painting down and looked on the back... In my father's handwriting it says: "By all laws of God and Man, this painting, in any stage of completeness or incompleteness, rightfully belongs to R. Shane **lastname**" (Privacy issues, you know.) I am so mad. I want to take the painting, a few more, and some of my stuff, and just run. I can probably find a friend's house to keep the painting at until I send it to Shane. But... I don't have a car, nor do I even know how to drive. I have one or two friends who do... but to plan this right, I might have to do it at night, when there is no one available to take me. The painting is about four feet tall, and even taking it off the wall the top frame started to come off... it is almost as old as me, maybe older. How can I transport this precious painting without damaging it? Actually, it doesn't matter if you know his last name... In fact, if you're interested, check out his site. His name is Shane Yates. And on this page: http://www.shaneyates.com/index.php?p=gallery&cat_id=12&show=24 The painting of the man in a Domino's uniform... is my dad. They were very close. I want to see that he gets this painting, and knowing my stepmom, it will have to be by force. Please help me... |
